Amþax

Kmúþic: Amþax /aːmθaks/

Amþax is a vast region in southwestern Jælondis, encompassing southern Jútrilía, western Fúmsis and much of western and central Maralon Steppe, and bordered by the Niþvú Sea to the west and Þargolid Sea to the south. Once home to the most powerful human civilizations as well as several major countries inhabited by Jútrilían Elves, the land has remained uninhabited since the Fell Wars forty years ago and reduced to a near-barren wasteland by the hordes of undead beings that roam it.
These creatures would have spread throughout Jælondis at the very least if not for the constant efforts of both the neighbouring human, elven and dwarven people as well as other organizations to keep the undead within the region. While the long-term goal is to destroy the beings and aid the displaced groups to rebuild their countries in the region, the process has been slow at best and interest in returning to Amþax has subsequently waned.

Geography

Before the Fell Wars, the region was characterized by subtropical deciduous woodlands to the north and west, savanna to the northeast and where the forest transitioned into a steppe, and shrubland along the southern coast. Several rivers flow through Amþax, most notably Abþa and Zúrta.
Remains of cities, towns, villages, forts, shrines and other structures are found throughout Amþax.

Fauna & Flora

The wetlands around the mouth of the Abþa River were once a haven for numerous (and often endemic) species of birds, fish, amphibians and insects, many of which are now extinct. Most of the wildlife outside the wetlands was similar to what is now found in Fúmsis, Jútrilía and Maralon.
