Þargolid Sea

Þagralic: Þargosdíra /θaːrkɔːstiːra/
Edollic: Remeiqós /reːmeiːqouːs/
Aric: Lúllús /lulːus̠/
East coastal velipic: Keynít /kheiːniːth/
The Þargolid Sea1 is an ocean located between Jælondis to the north, the Þnisic Sea to the east, Örkraz (specifically the region of Sessalló) to the south, the Irigg Sea to the southwest and Niþvú Sea to the west. Several important towns and cities are located by along its coast, including Anifir, Jopf, Úss and Ötera.
The name comes from jútrilían human mythology, referring to a legendary king variously known as Þargos, Þarg, Þarx, Takró or Akrös, who is said to have convinced the gods to grant mortals the gift of magic before they withdrew to their own realm, after which Þargos rode across the sea on his horse, never to be seen again.
Off the southern coast of Jælondis is a small island named Þarg's Rest, where the highest point resembles a bearded human head when viewed from a certain angle. Þagralían captains traditionally honour Þargos by casting spells into the air as they pass the island.
Fairies native to the Teleyk Islands have their own myths related to the Þargos Sea, the most famous being that it's attached to the sky and the two form a sphere around the archipelago.

Geography

A few small archipelagos and scattered islands are located in the Þargolid Sea, the most heavily populated of which are the Teleyk Islands to the west.

Localized Phenomena

Much like in other regions of Borgalor, the presence of high arcane energy under the surface -often caused by exposed veins of Magic Crystals- has strange effects on the waters in certain places, ranging from harmless flashes or beams of light to more dangerous whirlpools, ice pillars reaching from the bottom to the surface, and columns of boiling water. While some of these phenomena are stable enough to be mapped, others can shift due to the amount of magic fluctuating over time.

Natural Resources

Along with seafood of all sorts, the Þargolid Sea is a source of giant pearls used by ytvían Pearlwrights to craft traditional panoplies.
