Aggans

The aggans¹ are predominantly orcish inhabitants of Agg, the eastern state of the federal republic of Agg-Ahlún in western Örkraz. They make up the majority of the country's inhabitants together with the Ahlúnans along the coast to the west and úrzrani tribes to the south, and are closely related to the former.

Architecture

Aggan architecture is quite similar to that of the ahlúnans, characterized by the use of timber, thatched roofs and decorative elements including parquetry (both for floors and walls) and intricately carved and painted columns. Wooden spikes often protrude from the roofs, believed to keep evil spirits at bay, and tall stone foundations are common for public buildings, temples and mansions.

Cuisine

As in Ahlún, aggan cuisine is traditionally based on tree fern starch, sugarcane, land crocodile meat, fish and various local fruits and vegetables, with the addition of plants and livestock introduced by the other peoples of Borgalor, including cereals, beef and dairy products. Coconuts, an ubiquitous part of ahlúnan cuisine, have traditionally been limited to western Agg, though their use has gradually spread eastwards since the founding of Agg-Ahlún.

Religion

While each aggan tribe has its own unique religious beliefs and practices, all of these traditions have a number of things in common with wider ökrazic traditions, such as a focus on ancestral veneration, use of sugar, masks and sacred instruments. Traditionally, necromancy forms an important part of ancestor worship in Agg-Ahlún and especially Agg, though since the Fell Wars, this practice has become controversial among other borgaloreans.
In addition to traditional beliefs, a few foreign or syncretic religions are practiced by the small communities of dwarves, elves and humans living in Agg as well, most notably a form of dendrolatry brought by eren immigrants which revolves around the worship of certain fruit trees.
