Soularium

Within the Soularium are the most important buildings in the entire city’s Administration. It’s council, civil service and educational facilities are all in this district. However dwarfing all of these things in importance and stature is the Soul Anchor itself. The structure can be seen from nearly any point within the city, as looms nearly 100 feet taller than any other structure. In front of the Soul Anchor is a large Square, a public plaza for important business and relaxation. It’s covered in marble flagstones and has seven plinths arrayed at it’s entrance, each one containing a likeness of the member of the First Council. In the middle is a broad, ornate fountain that many citizens throw small coins in, hoping for guidance or favours from the First Council. This area is known as Soul’s Plaza.   At the northern end of the Plaza is the Anchor itself, the building is split into two parts, reaching towards the sky. The base is broad, with an enormous set of doors set into them as an entrance into its main atrium. The Crown is the upper section of the Anchor, and is completely separate from the base, seemingly suspended from the ground by the enormous ball of energy between the two buildings. The gap is nearly 70 feet in diameter and within it are the energies of the anchor that keeps the city safe. The ball is mercurial, never looking the same from moment to moment. The mixture of colours swirls, nearly mesmerising if you look for too long. White, blue, violet swirl together almost alive with purpose. The Crown is accessible via two narrowing bridges, one from each of the southern corners. Each bridge seems to be holding the Crown down, more than supporting it.   Shooting from the tip of the crown is a beam of light, generated by the anchor that carries into the sky several hundred feet before dissipating. The light carries the same colours as the sphere far beneath it. In the lower levels of the crown are the Council Chambers, where the great affairs of the city are debated and decided.
