Aikhon D. Rango

Aikhon D. Rango

Aikhon grew up impoverished in a ramshackle village of Dragonborn refugees in the Grey Coast, reared by a single mother. She, & other village clan elders, spared few details on the identity of his father & had him keep the nature of his name & lineage to himself. Aikhon would get mixed responses from those who saw how different he appeared. Whether it was fascination or wariness, it was all the same to him, he was always going to be seen as "different" from the rest of his immediate kin. Aikhon supported himself & his mother however he could in order to keep them afloat, working odd jobs & engaged in petty theft just to get coin. When his mother passed prematurely due to illness, a desperate, naive & lost Aikhon put himself into a life of indentured servitude to wealthy nobles & aristocrats of the Faces of the King.   One particular master was a noble named Rango Krasnaya in the lands of the Faces of the King. Whether he knew it or not, this noble would serve as a mentor figure to Aihkon as Krasnaya partook & benefited from corruption & backroom dealings in his intricate game of power & influence; such actions Aikhon witnessed but feigned ignorance to protect himself. Acting as a "fly on the wall" made him fortunate to learn the art of negotiating & people skills. Servicing members of high society allowed Aikhon to also bear witness to small magic capabilities of esteemed performers, small magics he discovered he was adept at learning as he practiced in secret.   Aikhon, feeling that he learned all he could from his life of servitude, left his master's estate, adopted part of his master's name as his own, and wandered. Aikhon spent his early youth fleecing townsfolk & gambling in taverns to his hearts content, but still aimless in life. This would change when he was offered work from small time smugglers who asked him to simple deliveries to different regions across the Grey Coast with no questions asked, with the promise of a high payout. Seizing the opportunity for newfound purpose, he decided to take up the life of a smuggler, taking advantage of being drafted as a privateer in service to the Faces of the King during the Claddenrow crisis to act as a cover for illicit smuggling operations.   As he was building his career, he heard stories in passing of a legendary Dragonborn pirate who took to the seas many years ago & made a prominent name for himself, the same name his mother swore him to never make public use of. Making the connection & believing in his own potential, he attempted to re-brand himself; taking ownership of the name he once was fearful to publicly speak aloud. The rogue bard sailed the high seas for a life of piracy to make a name for himself, backed with the prowess of his bloodline while pursuing any traces & hints that would lead him to the Dragonborn in question; his antics across the Grey Coast earning also Aikhon some level of infamy. Fortune would have it that he, through a combination of dumb luck & chaotic shenanigans, encountered & learned of a shared familial bond with a Dragonborn who went by the name Brimstone. The two Dragonborn half-brothers saw it best to stick together to overcome whatever the Grey Coast could throw at them.
