Session 43: The Sea to the Star, Part 3
General Summary
We begin following Roland, who works with Mila to lock Aikhon out of his own room, and they eavesdrop on the end of a conversation between E'krae and Jim with Jack, the former grunts and thugs for Barrelrider; this informant died in fighting with the orc scions. They were almost convinced by the yuanti, Mila eventually forces out Jack above deck after some athleticism and intimidation, to join in a mutiny against Thej, to take the Razor and give the dragonborn refugees to the Faces of the King.
During this time, Nar is also finishing a mural made from ash, flour, blackpowder, that she eventually reveals to be that of Rognur. Peanut, also, is trying to go diving--Valia notices--but his Animaesus friends try to stop him. Valia dives with him. The eventually find tentacles, three of them, connected to the underbelly of the Call. However, they also go fishing, and are nearly groped by one of these tentacles before they dash to the surface.
Valia elects to talk to Roland, but he is still distracted by Jack and Jim, bringing Aikhon into the fold, so the captain and the other dragonborn can make the proper decision. They go below deck, Roland, Valia, Mila, and Ilknar eventually, trying for plans to remove the tentacled apparatus.
Valia communes with her mask, her vengeance, and she seems to be able to absorb the evil within the apparatus; the tentacles begin to wither, losing color, light, and life. Within a few moments, however, three bumps continuously bang beneath the call, making the ship rock from back to forward. They run aboard, with Auna manning the powder crew, Nethpione and Brimstone ordering the crew, and Gyc coming aboard with rifle loaded. Additionally, Dosgratin seeks to protect the Call, flail his flail, Vumpesh anxious to use his bombs again, and others watch on in awe and fear.
Shadows brim beneath the depths, and the ready for watch comes next, Mila climbing to the crows nest and Valia diving into the depths to investigate.
But the Sea elf is soon attacked by two great maws, mutated teeth and sharks, imbued with tentacles within, born of that eldritch hate.
