Session 34: Scallywags: Not All Dragons Change Their Scales

General Summary

They give chase to the vampire, the lady of Jesh, after corning her in her own chamber of doom. She has gained much after her sleep, and she darts like mist through and around the crew of the call, Skiff, Rognur, and Roland. She finds in the lava chamber, rectangular with the center protecting a medusa she recognizes, a charge and charm from her own past. She walks past, on the northern side, ignoring E'krae, Nethpione, and the dragon brothers, Aikhon and Brimstone.
In the north west corner, Ilknar prays to his ancestors to gift him with a divine connection and understanding, but he is interrupted by this ancient, orcish undead queen. She begs in the giant tongue for his aid, her escape and need for freedom, the fear plain on her face. The giantkin does not immediately respond, she she flies and jumps past, seeing briefly E'krae carrying the blue orb, her charge from the western wing of her tomb. She warns of his purchase, but her fear and worry of the chase of others, especially of Roland, Skiff and Rognur, force her to push away for that open air. Ilknar's encouragement aids in her fervor and run. One must remember, she has been locked away from many, many generations.
She steals away past them, using her unearthly and undead form to manifest as mist, but Brimstone is able to dash beyond her, the athletic dragonborn facing her, asking her in her native orc to wait, cease and discuss with them. Surely they can help. She charms the Captain of the Horizon's Call, and he becomes her protector for her, even against his own crew. The Vampire Queen, the Orc Lady, she then continues to the front of the tomb, away from her death, and on to the free winds of the lands of her past.
Roland however runs with great haste, and he nearly catches up to her. She hides in a hall beyond, and so too does Ilknar, Rognur, and the other crew follow her to the open air. Skiff, however, chooses to remain behind, and he searches further for a way to access the treasure of this ancient Matriarch of the Scions of Jesharaum. He finds that the elvish spell-charmed shield gravitates towards the force-wall that encompasses the treasure and the medusa. He is able to use the luck of the dragon to attract the two pieces, the shield and the force-wall, together, and thus release a magic steam to harden and cool the lava pool that encircles around the island, and soon, he is met with the Medusa, who does not remember her name, an artifact herself, she explains with Skiff in the ancient, broken draconic.
Meanwhile, Ilknar escapes into the open air above the tomb, the hills and cairns around, and he is grabbed by the vampire orc, she with tears in her eyes. She speaks of the joy of the sun hitting her face, of the curse on her, and hope for it being lifted. Ilknar, and soon Roland, are able to convince her, despite the others behind, to stop for a moment, to come with them, to speak and understand the future, and how this past has lead to what comes next. However, Rognur, the hobgoblin who lost his life at the hands of nefarious deeds; Nethipione, the tiefling born of the sea but lost to all her own thoughts and pasts; Auna, the orc daughter of the current matriarch, she who seeks approval and a new future for herself and kin; and her father, an orc warden of the tomb, knowing that undeath is not to be spread like the humans have in the lands to the north, east, and beyond--they will not let this undead lady leave this tomb. This leads to a continue scuffle despite the ladies leaning to the calls of the crew. She even charms the father orc to help in this action, and she returns to her gold within, looking for her axes and dice.
She finds Aikhond hidden, stealing from her, but she compromises with him, but only after he convinces her and the medusa to not kill each other, with Skiff and the Queen Bess' help of course. The Medusa leaves to join with Skiff and the others at least for a time, and E'krae ran away alone during all of this. Additionally, the Captain, Ilknar, and Nethpione, they have to knock out Rognur in order to continue peacefully.
They now gather at the remaining mounts, more mouths and burdens to carry back to the Call, but questions still hang in their minds.
