Session 37: Ding! The Beans ARE Ready! Scallywags

General Summary

It is the 20th of Fall Feather, and firstly Aikhon travels a few days to the Call, meets with the young Medusa the group set free from the vault of the vampiric First Daughter. First he settles in, checks on the crew and dragonborn refugees, but even sooner he find E'krae, and Aikhon and the yuanti discuss his escape from the crew of the Call, his fear of the First Daughter and Aikhon informing of how woeful that is and unneeded, and of his gain from the Blue Orb of Dragonkind, from the Grivalea house of Feon. E'krae says he could make 100k gold from this venture, and promises 49%, but only after he gets a diamond from Aikhon to ensure he stays until his brother, Captain Brimstone, arrives.
Aikhon then finds Pojin, and he starts to discuss, while in the gnome's workshop in the second below deck of the Call, how the rescue of his brother will be needed, and post-haste, for he heard the explosions the day before. He attempts to find Teyos, but she has used her Voyager staff to find an entrance to the Heart of Bilin, the landing of the primodial goddess and threshold to the Plane of Water.
Nonetheless, the crew begins to lay plans, and heads to bed, the Call still at port in the vast city-port of the Scion Fort. The sound for lights out was only but 30 minutes before, and a call for gathering on deck is made by West, Reddem, and Dardanos of the first night watch. Once the majority is on deck, reason and fear begin to mingle, for horns of orc descent bellow in anger, and a contingent travels down the port to the Call and its crew.
Pojin yells for the Crew to arm themselves, canons to load.
However, two days previously the rest of the Scallwags have followed Rognur to the Central Tower of the Scion Matriarch, and they lay plans.
Firstly, Skiff and Roland stealth up and down two hundred plus feet of stairs to find the proper placement for barrels of gunpowder. Three-fourths the way up, they find spindled spot of four pillared and ivory supports converging behind the stairs. With rope, agility and good grip, the two attach their four large barrels ready to implode the structure.
Secondly, Ilknar, Nethpione, Auna and Brimstone start fires and cause distractions, Ilknar even yells it while Nethpione summons storms, Auna fires from her bow, and Brimstone pummels with draconic fists. The incoming scouting party is distracted, and good thing, for Ugala attempts to remove her daughter from the shadow of the Matriarch's Tower. Shell, her daughter, does not know what to do, and she is eventually grabbed by the Scion Champion who was escorting her. He attempts to take her inside the tower, but Ugala and, eventually, her daughter resist.
Thirdly, Rognur is found below, a cage made from steal and bones of the past. He finds an orc ally who notices his tinkering to escape the cage, dwarven priest, a fish man, and somewhere within the night, the newest prisoner, a young orc woman. Rognur witnessed her be brutalized by other orcs throughout the night. ONce he escapes, a chain of events is set into motion, and soon he finds only one orc on guard, an ease to overcome, but Skiff soon joins him from above.
Ilknar, Nethpione, and Brimstone ignite storage buildings and trees, and take out a handful of orcs. Ilknar throws one into a burning house, Auna shoots from afar to hinder the enemies of Ugala but also to aid her and Shell. Shell eventually tries to break free as Nethpione fights an orc sorcerer of draconic fire with her storm sphere.
Roland comes above ground, and he begins to engage with ancient greataxe in hand six orcs single-handedly, only aided by Ilknar in the end.
Below again, Skiff uses acid from his Kurtalmak charm to aid Rognur but also free the other prisoners in this lauder of the Matriarch's favored son, Roadhoag.
Rognur eventually breaks free, and engages with Ugala and his daughter Shell against the Scion Champion, and were it not for the aid of the other Scallywags and Auna, Ugala would surely have fallen. Once the scallwags are outside, Skiff leading the remaining prisoners above ground, the Beans are Done, the kobold said, the bomb implodes the central tower of the Scion's Matriarch. They try to escape, and most due, but dusty, blinded, and bludgeoned by the gust from the large and ancient structure.
They run, for they have two days to reach the sanctuary, their Call. However, before they even breach a few hundred feet from the imploding building, four orcs jump, slide, fly, and mist out of the explosion in rage, and they chase and hunt for those who have hindered and destroyed so much of the people.
The chase begins.
