Session 35: Scallywags: The First Daughter, No More
General Summary
The group gathers, on the 17th of Fall Feather, 698, outside the First Daughter's cairn and tomb, after awakening her to sift and filch the treasures from her ancient hold. Scallywags elect to try to discuss with the new found queen her future, but they need rest, and taking a short hour to do so, they begin to organize the next steps. A storm moves in, and almost on cue, orc cultists seeking to pray to the tomb of the first daughter arrive, lead by one of the 80 sons of the Matriarch, followed by the Bastion of the Seven.
This ignites agitation and confusion, as the first daughter begins to sing ancient songs, gather closely to these follower. During this rest, Rognur also awakes, and with the elderly warden orc charmed as well as Brimstone by the first daughter, the action turns into friendly hostilities. They attempt to take the bound Rognur away, Roland and Ilknar, but not before the first daughter convinces the orcs and Brimstone to find one to bring with them, a presumed sacrifice. Meanwhile, Auna runs to her moorbounder, and Skiff encircles the incoming orc cultists, flanking and rising on the hill of the first daughter's cairn, thus gaining a better advantage. Yet, he waits, and he and the others watch the agitation from the orcs, the tension and fervor coming from non-orcs, an ancient orc queen showing her power and might, the new storm coming, and the gaze of even one of he 80 upon them.
Aikhon sees this rise, his brother moving to engage under the orders of this first daughter, and so he casts a slow spell upon the lot of them, forcing the engagement to erupt. The first daughter immediately mists to Skiff, Brimstone goes for Nethpione, but he begs for her to run under his own tortured breath. Rognur attempts to escape his bounds, and as they follow to the floor, Aikhon grabs him. Yet, once the vampire queen attempts to grab the small Skiff a few times, Ilknar tries to stop Brimstone, and Roland gets a moorbounder.
The orcs aid their queen, for as soon as Skiff his grabbed, he unloads four deadly shots into the stomach of the first daughter, crippling her and blowing off her left hand. These orcs are overwhelmed, soon enough, by moorbounders mounted by Rognur and Roland, spells of entangle thrown from their own kin, and finally Bastion and the Chosen of the 80 laying cover fire with gun-lances and bombs. During all this chaos, Rognur uses the moorbounder to close distance with the First Daughter, and with an acid shot into her throat, she falls and begins to hope for a save for her death. Yet, Skiff fires again, and Roland finally uses her own axe he stole from her within the tomb but an hour before to decapitate her, surely ending her undeath upon these lands.
They then clean up, resting a bit, but also returning to the tomb for more treason, for axes, and dice, for shields too.
They then plan to return to the city, but Rognur has left before them; he is earnest to see his family again after so many years, and the Crew have wasted enough time.
Additionally, Aikhon will break with this group to head back to the ship with the treasure before continuing on to the Scion Capital. YEt, orcs escaped from this skirmish, and if they arrive in the capital first, Rognur and others will have a more difficult time with family and friends within the city.
