Session 48: Dark Temples, Aberrant Minds, and Coercive Telepathy: Scallywags

General Summary

Aikhon and G decide to join Ilknar back on shore with the angrey Putori (ferret-folk) Reddem. Meanwhole, Mila, Roland, Peanut and Valia follow the Otterfolk, Peanut, to this temple of 'his' god, and the find two spires, well-worn by the exposure to the elements, and then a cave entrance partially submerged, but 60 feet down a jagged cliff to the water level. Mila casts a feather fall spell to mitigate the on their inevitable dives, but it is only really Valia that needs it as she bounces downward.
Aikhon, G, and Reddem with Ilknar are able to follow some boot prints behind the others by about 15 minutes, for they had to drag up the rowboat on the island to ensure it is not broken against the cliff-faces of the rocky beaches. However, with Peanut, they are also able to discern they must jump into the water near this worn spires, so Ilknar launches with the others down below as G climbs slowly into the waters.

They all dive for a few minutes, but those with Peanut (Mila, Roland, and Valia) arrive in this undwater cavern with 15 to 20 minutes before the others. With these few minutes to swim and explore, they notice the water goes very deeply below, dark and murky. They also see a few pairs of golden eyes, or what they think are eyes looming in the water. Valia jumps in the water, wanting to see more of what lies beyond this cave. Peanut starts calling out this 'his' god. With this, the creatures, the eyes within the water, begin to swim and swarm around Valia, and the others turn to aid from a small rock surface they land upon, with Mila first lighting a small magical bonfire to provide light, and then soon drag one these creatures through, while Valia revs her magical chain saw beneath the water, prepaing to engage with two of theses strange aberrations beneath the water.
Roland soon jumps in the water with this whip dagger to aid Valia.
Soon behind them, Aikon, then Ilknar with Reddem on his back, and finally G swim into the cavern. Other creatures they see below, so Ilknar and Aikhon swim to engage, with the giantkin going to join Roland, Mila and Peanut on the rocky island, and Aikhon staying below to keep other creatures focused on him. Roland tries desperately through these moves to keep Reddem from harming his friend Peanut, and the otter inexplicably calls for the Gods aid, presumably the distant voice they all start to here in the mind's eye.
Here, the voice of the entity returns to the minds of Mila and Aikhon, telling them to return to the water and to enter from another space, another tunnel. Aikhon sees this for what it is, a misdirection, and he toys with this telepathic voice and its minion by casting tongues to try to decieve the minion he has been indeed been invited by its God, its lord, this entity. Another voice also speaks to the gnome and the dragonborn, with complete antithesis to the Godly voice. Ilknar knocks Peanut into and out of the water, to finally knock him out of this stupor.
They slowly make their way to a stone dock of sorts, with sconces that need lighting, which Mila does do for the aid of others. THey also find a metal door, reinforced with a stone blockade on the inside of the door. They clean up the remaining creatures, and the waters rise, and force Peanut and Valia to perceive a monster coming from the waters that none other see.

Valia rages, and within her, the fey, the celestial of wrath that has taken her soul, and it burns away this illusion, while Peanut fights onward. Mila goes to the door, teleports through, lights more sconces, and then Valia follows afterward with her and Roland, where the sea elf finds an orc waiting for them, but the group fell him as quickly as the other aberrations.
Yet behind them, Aikhon, Peanut and Roland see the entity rise again from the water they just escaped, and Aikhon challenges its godhood while it waits in the waters to calculate the others arriving.
It may not still be alone, and the group is distantly away from Aikhon and Peanut, still fighting the illusion of tentacles.
