Alsace

Alsace is the capital city of the human Kingdom of Sonora, placed at the bottom center of the continent of Albion neighboring the pass leading to Thor Bardam. Housing the Ivory Palace, the Starspire, and various other landmarks, it is from here King Sonora rules over all of the territories, maintaining substantial but respectful control of the other neighboring kingdoms. With a population of 150,000 people, the kingdom holds a great number of the kingdom's resources close to the belt.

Government

  • King's Tariff: Every citizen is to pay a tax to maintain the government and the kingdom's expenditure.
  • Incarceration & Execution: Most minor crimes such as stealing, assault, burglary, or other non-lethal crimes are met with either repayment through labor or incarceration within the Trench, the Sonoran high jail. Violence crimes like sexual assault, robbery, or murder are often met with mutilation or death sentences to public executions.

Defences

  • The Great Wall of Alsace: A large stone and iron wall built and reinforced to protect against dwarvish attacks after the war. The southern section is currently being rebuilt due to bring collapsed during the war.
  • The Sonoran Guard: Guards paid to keep the city safe, filled with normal guards, archers, batterers, warmages, and hunters.

GENERAL GOODS:
  • Jensen Mueller's Gems & Jewelers: A jewelry store that outfits aesthetic jewelry as well as gems for casters to use for components and focuses.
  • High Market: The large central marketplace for the city, placed at the center for all people to open stalls and sell goods.
  • Humming Bryde's: A store that sells instruments and provides music lessons for the nobility and those who can afford their lessons. Run by air genasi ex-bard Martina "Marty" St. Byrde.
  • Puffpyke's Dispensary: An alchemy shop for potions, tinctures, and other medicines or alchemical needs. Run by the male bald tabaxi Daedalus "Dalus" Puffpyke.
  • Toe The Line: A shoemaker and bootmaker for the city, run by the male gnome Skipper Jones.
  • King's Steed Equestrium: A place where riders can keep their horses, steeds, and beasts of burden, getting them shoed and cared for. Run by the goliath Marsha Roden.
FOOD:
  • The Chalice: A fine-dining establishment that serves predominantly pasta and meat-based dishes.
  • Sweet Nothings: A bakery full of many different sorts of treats, visited by both poor and noble alike. Run by the Ox Firbolg ex-warrior, Solomon Sweet.
  • Siren: A hole in the wall establishment that serves elvish-fusion cuisine with a focus on sushi and seafood.
  • The Hops Skip & Jump: A bar with medium level food and good beer-based drinks.
  • The Nook & Cranberry: A restaurant within the capital city.
ARMS & ARMOR:
  • Iron Street: The center for all smiths within the city.
  • Ordenmakers: A human smithy that focuses on special armaments for the Sonoran Army, run by the male human Hals Orden.
  • Hewnhorn Arms & Armor: A smithy focused on magical item creation for weapons and armor, run by the female dwarf Argisa Hewnhorn.
  • The Song of Steel: A smithy focused on the creation of elven weapons such as curved blades, bows, and such, run by the female dragon sorcerer elf Edith Fairwood, who fire breathes her own forge.
RELIGIOUS
  • West Abbey: The divine region of the city, comprising primarily of a large temple of the various gods that are allowed within Alsace, provided with an open-air region.
  • Suncliffe: A wide-open space that reaches to the sun, filled with Lilybright flowers that can be harvested to treat necromantic wounds and diseases lie vampirism. Pelor and his children Sarenrae and Lathander
  • The Chantry Argent: A hall filled with the divine gods of justice worshiped as patrons by the Knights Argent. Usually the site of knighting ceremonies and houses the Hall of Those Who Served, where knights are put to rest. Bahamut, Moradin, Tyr, Torm, Helm, and Tempus are worshiped here.
  • The House of Order: A hall used to conduct court proceedings such as hearings, trials, and sentences, also used a divine placement for the Orderbearer.
INNS & HOTELS:
  • The King's Seat: A high-end inn with magical rooms and amenities.
  • The Cave Inn: A moderate-end inn with stone rooms and natural decors such as moss beds, glowing mushrooms, and aesthetic waterfalls.
  • Molly's: A low-end inn for serfs and poor folks.
PROSTITUTION & ILLEGAL ACTIVITY:
  • The Love Seat: A high-end place for nobles to meet with higher-end girls.
  • Jamboree: A moderate-end place that is always rowdy with playful girls and good music.
  • Royal Flush: A high-stakes gambling house for high noble gamblers, often spending items and not just gold. Also the site of some high-level illegal auctions.
  • The Pen: A hidden fight club that hosts normal fights, animal battles, and other illegal fight occurrences.
  • The Trench: The Sonoran main jail, filled with criminals serving out their time or those who are awaiting public execution.

Guilds and Factions

  • The Starspire and the Star Whisperers: Sonoran's resident (and only) magical academy in all of the Kingdom. Run by a circle of five old, wizened wizards known as the Star Whisperers, those with the rare affinity for magic can come and hone their abilities, become Lawmages for the Kingdom, Warmages for hire or employment as mercenaries, or academics to hold offices such as Court Wizards, Arcane Investigators, and Relic Seekers. Headed by Starlord Vesuvian.
  • The Braves and the Bravehaunt Tavern: The Braves are a large guild of adventurers dedicated to solving the problems of the kingdom either deemed too small by the guard or have simply been unable to be dealt with due to other obligations. They are dedicated to performing acts of Heroism, building true comraderie and companionship between friends, and living life to the fullest whilst working towards a world that allows such enjoyment, free of danger. Led by the green dragonborn bard and legendary hero, Hertia Bellchand.
