The Alderwood

The Alderwood is an expansive forest that stretches over the whole of the southern region of the continent of Albion. Housing the Court of Summer across the Feywild, palpable primal magic flows vehemently through this part of the realm, seeing it as a hub for the fey, animals, living plants, and mortals such as wood elves.

Geography

  • Berylsoul Grove: This is the center of power and worship for the Arc of the Beryl Soul, and is often where the Druidic Elders go to meditate and commune with the Alderwood's nature spirits, as well as the governing Fey of the region. The Grove is massive encircling pond filled with flattened, moss-laden platforms that lead up to a circle of standing stones, known as the Beryl Gate. Here, Fledgings come to engage in their ascendance rituals, Elders meet and give trade/praise to the fey, and sometimes the older members come to pass on and become tied to the Alderwood as guardian spirits.
  • The Kelemere: This large lake stands deep within the more mist-filled lands of the kingdom of Sonora, standing west of the great city of Clayhaven. The site of a great battle between the god-then-mortal Kelemvor and the thanatotic titan, the titan's body collapsed to form a pit, the rain water collecting to form the lake and cover most of his corpse save for the single hand striking up into the sky, still gripping the chain of his flail. It is from this that Kelemvor's holy symbol emerges, and this lake is watched over by the elvish druid Nor'larr.
  • The Calmweir: This large waterfall has the waist-up facade of the Elvish goddess of peace Eldath carved into the white stone of the cliffside, water cascading down her naked body like a flowing robe while her hands extend out in greeting, her eyes closed. This is a holy place for those who worship Eldath or those who seek peace and calm, often used by writers and poets for the silence of an inspirational place. Some even come to spend their last moments here, sometimes walking into the well itself so that they may join their gracious mother. Strangely enough, there are no bones or belongs below the surface of the water, though few have attempted to dive keep into the black depths of the fall's end, as to do so is to disrespect and disturb the peace of the resting.
