The Arc of the Beryl Soul

The Arc of the Beryl Soul is an ancient order of warriors, druids, and creatures dedicated to the protection and distinct fostering of nature, particularly within the magical forests of the Alderwood. Engaging in regular communion with the Feywild and the Courts of Nature, the druids here wield exceptionally strong control over the trees, roots, and animals of this realm, but even then can carry a number of different factions amongst themselves.

Structure

  • The Arc of the Beryl Soul: Worshipers of the Wildmother, the Berylsoul Druids are the most commonly encountered people within the forest, guardians against the overuse and overtaking of nature whilst keeping order with the other races and civilizations that they must co-exist with. They often are the ones who speak to the surrounding Kingdoms and handle problems between themselves and the other nations, as well as see to issues regarding their other clans. Their center of operation is Berylsoul Grove, a colossal pool surrounded by cascading cliffs blanketed in all manner of flora and greenery, which also works as a Planar Gate to the Feywild through which the druids can commune, specifically the Spring and Summer Courts ruled by Oberon and Titania respectfully.
Within the Arc of the Beryl Soul, there are a number of tribes that worship different natural entities, both godly and otherwise. Below are the various different subcultures within the Arc, as well as the beings they revere:
  • The Sons of the Beast: Worshipers of Malar, these Druids and Rangers take the most aggressive approach against colonizers, robbers, and other people who seek to reap the gifts of nature for their own greed. They are comprised of lycanthropes and shapeshifters mostly, as well as elven warriors and rangers who bring blood and terror down upon poachers, hunters, and encroachers of their territory. They are marked with a bear's paw print drawn in blood,
  • The Peacewalkers: Worshipers of primarily Eldath, the Peacewalkers are nomadic and kind people who believe all are able to give and take as they wish from the world around them, as ultimately it is nature that will always regrow, heal, and protect itself against its enemies. They often keep to themselves but offer comfort, food, aid, and rest to stragglers they find wandering or hurt by animals and such, which admittedly does lead them to be taken advantage of and even slaughtered by bandits, lords, or anyone who sees their kindness as weakness. Nevertheless, they believe peace is the path to unity and content existence.

Territories

  • The Alderwood: The Arc of the Beryl Soul commands the whole of the Alderwood despite being on Sonoran Lands. This often causes friction and conflict with the Crown as they Druids outright refuse to be governed or commanded by the King and his Court, believing that nature has no master and cannot be owned. As such, the Berylsoul Druids often disrupt mining, logging, and other expeditions that risk destruction and starving of the land.
  • Berylsoul Grove: The Berylsoul Grove is the center of power and worship for the Arc of the Beryl Soul, and is often where the Druidic Elders go to meditate and commune with the Alderwood's nature spirits, as well as the governing Fey of the region. The Grove is massive encircling pond filled with flattened, moss-laden platforms that lead up to a circle of standing stones, known as the Beryl Gate. Here, Fledgings come to engage in their ascendance rituals, Elders meet and give trade/praise to the fey, and sometimes the older members come to pass on and become tied to the Alderwood as guardian spirits.
  • The Pit of the Beast: This large mixture of cavern and root forest is home to the Sons of the Beast, housing all manner of dark creature and bestial animal in serve to the god Malar. It is also said to be his resting place, and that in silence the reverberating of his snores can be heard echoing off the cave walls.
  • The Kelemere: The Kelemere, otherwise known as the Linn of Kelemvor, is a large pool with a fossilized titan’s hand in the very center, a chain dangling on either side from its constant death grip. This is a holy site for worshipers of both Kelemvor, the Raven Queen, and other gods of death, as it is a place of endings with the pool being filled with skeletons, skulls, and charms from visitors. People sometimes come to these waters to drop off the belongings of dead loved ones, moving on from their passing. It is surrounded by a grey mist and heavily guarded against graverobbers and those who seek to desecrate it. This is also the site of where Kelemvor slew the great undead giant Paxias, an arisen of Orcus who wielded a chain flail whose hand and chain now rises above the pool.

Military

The Arc of the Beryl Soul don't have a standing military as they are not a true nation, but their Druids, Rangers, and Warlocks fight against all incursions with fear tactics and guerilla warfare, striking at night or using nature itself to combat against their foes. Many also call upon archfey or nature spirit patrons while others transform into animals or other creatures to fight.
