The Children of the Beast

The Children of the Beast are a splinter faction of the druids of the Alderwood, worshipers of Melora, and her son, Malar the Black Beast. They take a hands-on and aggressive approach to fight back against the invasion and desolation of civilization to the natural world, fighting back with ecoterrorism and oppressive druidic magics. They believe the land belongs to the wood elves and fey of their old lineage, and that it is their right and pride to remove the invading forces of the surrounding kingdoms, root, and stem.

Structure

The Circle itself holds no position of hierarchy, having each member hold an equal stake in the organization. However, a variety of different individuals join the Sons if their cause is a shared one.
  • Azakim: A high elf wildfire druid with blonde hair, pale skin, and bright gold eyes with red sclera, having the Sonoran Eagle burned twice into his face. He is a high-ranking member of the Children.
  • Katori: A moon satyr land circle druid from the Night Court who focuses on healing and protecting the other members.
  • Elks: An earth-red tiefling barbarian with horns that look like a stag's, wielding an axe.
  • Ari: A wood elf ranger who has a swarm of bees attached to his leather armor pauldron, forming a connection with them when they saved him from being killed by Sonoran Guards. He returned the favor by allowing them to travel with him.
  • Tace: A wyrwood warforged, originally a half-elf whose soul was transferred into the body by a druidic ritual. His face is shadowed constantly and he wears warm-black hooded robes with a mantle of life-giving leaves and herbs that absorb power from the sun. His skin is formed of pale-tan birch-like wood.

Culture

  • Nature Rules All: The Sons believe that nature will inevitably take back its own land from those who seek to rend it of its fruit and colonize it with lands of stone and metal. However, this does not mean that they will not aid it in its eventuality.

Mythology & Lore

  • Mor'duin the Black Giant: Eons ago, the old human king Moros Urth'aile approached the forest itself in hopes of forging a unified pact between him and his small kingdom at the time. The forest itself spelled him to live as an animal for a year, learning what it means to be a denizen of the wilds with the encroaching of civilization beginning to surround them. He succeeded and returned to his kingdom with a new perspective, growing monstrously protective of the woods against all of the other human kingdoms. In return, he and his kingdom were blessed with bountiful harvests and a good relationship with fey and forest creatures, until he was deceived and dethroned by his brother Eustace Urth'aile. His younger brother sought to expand his kingdom and control the forest to build the power of his kingdom against those that slowly rose in power around him. Moros, heartbroken and left to the forest he loved so much, was consumed by his own rage and turned into a colossal black beast, the guardian of the Alderwood known by all as Mor'duin. He still wanders the realm to this day and often challenges mortals who wander the forests to see who he may bestow a kernel of his power too. His visage and tale is what the Sons of the Beast based most of their appearance and beliefs on.
