The Eastern Rend

The Eastern Rend is a large Region that covers the whole of the top-right section of the continent of Albion. It is formed mainly of large mountainous ranges, sweeping grasslands, and even a very snowy region known as the Baelfrost. Conquered by the Kingdom of Sonora in the War for the Eastern Rend, this region was ruled by the various Clanlords of the many different Clans that resided there.

Geography

NORTH:
  • The Baelfrost: A large expanse of snowy and icy mountains that covers the northeast section of the region, spreading out to both the top and bottom of land-mass. Yetis, Frost Giants, and other monsters reside here, and this is the home of the members of Clan Horryn and their vassal clans, descended from the old invaders that sailed from the far west, and Horryn of the Winter, who decided to name his group as a Clan by force.
  • The Stormspire: This is the sacred mountain of the god Kord, ravaged by a constant divine storm and housing various monstrous creatures such as Storm Giants, Thunderbirds, and Storm Elementals. It is believed that those who climb to the top of the mountain and surpass its challenges are able to plead to Kord to receive a gift from the god, and some druids come to commune with the rampaging forces of the constant storm. The Baelfrost's mountains build up to the Stormspire, but the Clans do not dare tread upon in hopes of claiming it for themselves.
  • Aurs Island: Aurs Island is an island that resides at the highest point of the Rend, once the ancestral home to Clan Calderwoode until the ancestors of Clan Horryn warred against them and their goddess Auril lambasted the once burgeoning island with ethereal cold. Unable to inhabit the land, Clan Calderwoode fled to the southern mounts that would become Mother's Mesa, and built Caldermast as their new seat. Auril's Crown would then become the center of Clan Horryn and is still haunted by the main frozen revenants lost during that time. It is ruled by Aelyn Horryn, the elven clans-lady of Clan Horryn.
WEST:
  • Mother's Mesa: A large segment of mountains that cuts through the Rend, these are the lush green ranges belonging to the Wildmother, her gift to the ancestors of Clan Calderwoode after the devastating loss of their homeland against the invading Clan Horryn. It is protected by and cultivated by Clan Calderwoode to this very day, and has been defended strongly as the divine domain of the Wildmother herself.
  • The Grimgrowth Patch: This is a small corrupted patch of woodland filled with gnarled trees and dead woodlands beside Mother's Mesa, believed to be the domain of hags and witches, and other malevolent users of primal magic. The region is under Calderwoode control and they have worked to beat back the spreading corruption.
  • Carrion Cross (Mountain): Carrion Cross is an immense interweaving pass of mountains and hills, formed from the fossilized bones of a long-dead titan whose name was lost to time. Travelers must pass through the Cage formed of its ribs, and there is rumored to be a dungeon where its skull resides, known as Titan's Fall. This passage is the agreed-upon border between the lands of the Rend and the lands of the Sonoran kingdom.
  • Titan's Fall: The highest peak formed from the skeletal brow of a slain titan, the bones have long fossilized to stone and become overrun with moss and growth. Small pools within the deeper caverns of the skull-turned-mountainside, there are small pools and waterfalls that are said to house infinite wisdom and bestow it to those who drink from it.
EAST:
  • Aeleoch Tower: This high reaching castle is the home of Clan McBride, built by the legendary dwarven druid only known as "Stoneman", it was designed to withstand a four-year siege as a response to the arrival and assaults of Clan Horryn.
  • Loch Mason (Lake): Loch Mason is the largest body of water within the Rend, located right below the large ancient castle of Aeleoch Tower. It is named after the forefather of Clan McBride, Mason "Ironside" McBride.
SOUTH:
  • The Riven: The Riven is the region that covers most of the land beyond the Sablefront beachhead, commanded by the clans of O'Dimm.
  • Sablefront (Southern Beach): The Riven is the large expansive stone beach that covers all of the southern parts of the Rend; a place where no ship may sail or attempt to make port due to the piercing rocks and harsh, unforgiving waves that slam the faces of the mountains below. As such, the high cliffs and constantly flooding backlands give way to bogs and marshes filled with devouring mud, needing castles and keeps to built into the peaks or atop large stands that spike out from the bubbling swamps.
