The Star Basin

The Star Basin is the ancient religious site of the druidic circle of the Caste of the Starsoul. It is also the site of where a large meteor had landed eons earlier in the time of the world, its alien nature resulting in the constant Night Mists and the fluorescent flora and fauna that liters the whole of the Zaffrewood Jungle.

Geography

The Star Basin is a large cove forming a crescent shape around a pond of water extending out towards the Northern Ocean, with a small platform of land seated at the center of the pond known as the Star Terrace. This Terrace and the whole of the surrounding area is a ritual site for the druidic circle of the Caste of the Starsoul, dedicated to reading and deciphering the power of the stars above.
Below the Star Basin lies a colossal crater caused by a massive meteorite landing in this section of the world eons ago, which is also possibly the source for the Night Mists that bathe the whole of the Zaffrewood in constant darkness, as well as provide the bio-luminescent plants that spread throughout the whole jungle. Ore from this meteorite can and has been harvested in the past, called Starvein, and has been used to create a host of glowing weapons imbued with alien powers, able to strike at both the body and mind of their enemies.
The Caste of the Starsoul has dedicated this area to the Moonweaver, Moonmother, and various other deities that they pledge too. Here they engage in birth rituals and burial rituals such as the Rite of Illustration, where a person's soul is consecrated and scattered across the sky to join their brethren amongst Sehanine's glorious tapestry.

Glowing algae spreads throughout the whole of the pond and can be seen when looking at certain angles.
