Gods-Sent.

by August

Oh, Rin.

This one is going to be trouble, I can already tell after just a few hours with him.

I’m not sure if it’s the suspiciously honest answers he gives to the questions we’ve been asking of him or what, but the man is definitely going to test the limits of my skills. I... I don’t think he’s one of the Hunt, as I just cannot imagine someone with the boisterousness that he has would fit in with such a crowd, but by the gods he has to have some higher purpose than he’s letting on. As in, even beyond that unusually straightforward answer of being “sent to us” by his father Tyr, the god of war. That literally cannot be it; it just seems so mundanely easy to have it be just that. In this empire, where the Old Gods are outlawed; where so many of us have cried out for aid to them and been found wanting; he’s just going to... Say that?

He must know something about one of us. Perhaps his and Xerrakir’s gods have some kind of quarrel that we are unaware of? But surely Xerrakir would know right? Could it be Kestral’s connection to the ruler of death, maybe? Perhaps there’s a connection to death and war?

Whatever it is, I need to keep my eye on him. I can already tell by his demeanour that unless questions are carefully “answered” he will not leave them alone. He appears strong, and he is at the very least aware of the hypocritical nature of his existence, but he is dangerous.

This will not be easy.
