Rough Start.

by August

Well… Barring some glaring mistakes, I suppose I cannot call this mission anything but a success, even if it could have gone a lot smoother. Considering how much noise and fuss we made, it was only a matter of time before the guards came, and we surely would have been locked up if not for the word of a man we had attacked and invaded naught but seconds before. I personally cannot think of something I would be less willing to hedge the success of our mission on, but, again, it ended in triumph so I suppose I cannot fault the method.

I wonder what the group would have thought had the screams been of Necrome instead of one of their own. How would they have diffused the situation? Necrome lived and will serve his time for his abuse of magics in attempting to reanimate the dead, but what if those that joined the caverns late had found Necrome dead or being attacked? Would they have joined in the fight against him despite not knowing what happened? At this point I honestly cannot be sure, and that is… troublesome. We do not need unnecessary death nipping at our heels.

If nothing else, I know a little more about what it is that these people are able to accomplish, and I believe I am warranted in thinking that we would be better to stick together for a short time. Even ignoring the broad range of skills they seem to have that could lend to us being able to tackle many tasks, there are a few of them of a more creative, inventive nature that also happen to be magically inclined. That could be very helpful; it could also be very dangerous.

Here’s hoping this was a mere rough start to our tenure together and that the next few days or weeks we spend as Sil's guards are smoother, as many people will not tolerate our actions as Sil did. For once I actually count his ineptitude a blessing, else we’d be chains.

But we are not. And that, by itself, is enough I suppose.
