Background

Captain Meklan is a wizard and an adventurer, with a long history of time-traveling and leading a band of marauders. He first started adventuring when a tabaxi gave him a gold coin and he entered the Yawning Portal. In time he met Jeriah Chronos who was mastering time travel magic. They adventured and Meklan started the Meklan Marauders that ended up stopping the Slumbering Dragon from destroying the Universe. He then did more time travel and adventures. Later in life he adopted Bastion and taught him magic. Before that though he spent some time in the Bronze Canyon telling his tales to Barlo, the tabaxi who would grow up to be the one that inspired Meklan's adventures

Captain Meklan is a tall, slightly pale man with slightly reddish skin and long brown hair. He has a strong build, and wears a long, hooded cloak and a wide-brimmed hat. His brown eyes glitter with intelligence and a hint of mischief

Not much is known about Captain Meklan, but his name came up when The Mighty Menagerie found the Adventurer Class Airship which claimed he was the last pilot.
 
The last captain of the Adventurer Class Airship according to the records per the tricorn.
 
It's reasonable to assume he had possession of the 333 Gems of Tharizdun that Bast took. He also probably was part of the team that worked with the archfey of the Feywild to kill the evil archfey who was devoted to Tharizdun.
