Blackout
The unit commonly known as “Blackout” has never been acknowledged by Unitas Consortium or its associated Prefectures, but leaked dossiers and messages from dozens of major corporations describe the group as a black-ops force specializing in inter-corporate espionage, kidnappings, sabotage, and assassinations.
According to the aforementioned documents, Blackout is used primarily by Prefecture corpo-governments as a tool to keep other corporations in line and carry out extra-judicial punishments. The unit has reportedly been involved in false-flag attacks on factories and transport vessels, with the goal of harming the revenue streams and research arms of select corporations. Outside observers have noted that the targeted corporations are usually powerful, well-established entities with known rivalries with Prefecture governments.
According to after-action reports obtained by the hacker collective CUBE, Blackout utilizes modified Stormers fitted with dynamic camouflage modules, as well as exotic materials and dampeners that create extremely low radar, infrared, and electromagnetic signatures. The unit favors compact, relatively quiet armaments, such as the SAC-53 Carbine, nano-wire, and vibro blades. They are also adept at demolition operations using the Type-7 Clamp Charge.
There are no known instances of Blackout operatives being captured alive or interrogated, but former kidnapping targets have claimed that members of the unit exhibit a flat affect and extreme indifference to the suffering of their captives.
