Obguago Dynasty
Obguago Dynasty is one of the oldest institutions of Astrapelago, being created by Casey N. Obguago when his family moved into Astrapelago just after its discovery. As a “Founder,” Casey, along with his immediate descendants, enjoyed widespread territory rights for newly discovered heliospheres, and his family business syphoning atmospheric gases from Nyx has grown to be the largest in the system. The Obguago Gas Company became a Preferential Associate of Unitas Consortium twenty-one years ago and changed its name to Obguago Dynasty. Having been a Preferential Associate for two decades, it should have become a default Prefecture, but Interhelios has contested this in the Consortium courts in favor of their own Prefecture status. Statements from Obguago Dynasty have repeated their claim that they would not have contested Interhelios establishing a new Prefecture alongside their own but, “Interhelios have a long history of being bad at sharing,” as it was stated by the current Executive Kgosi, Tshepo Obguago.
They are one of the largest employers in Astrapelago but rely on continuing good relationships with the OSSU to counter the political and economic strength of Interhelios’s ambition in the system. Though not a Prefecture, Obguago Dynasty has had two decades of access to GuardCorps support and Unitas Preferential status.
Normal formal response was made to the Saber Ridge Incident, but some observers believe elements of the OSSU blockade are re-registered Obguago vessels. Obguago Dynasty has yet to deploy its GuardCorps capabilities other than to increase security at its most prominent assets.
