Danielle Chao
Danielle Chao is the public face of Pact command in the Astrapelago system; many think she is working with Tabari El-Shanawee behind the scenes. Slower to form but larger in size than the initial Tantalus blockade is her so-called Periphery Wall, composed of hundreds of independent ships in service to her cause.
Chao is a former mid-level GuardCorps security contractor who was wounded in battle. Biographers say that her injury caused her to reassess her life, and she took retirement to Astrapelago to sever her connections to Unitas Consortium. However, she was approached by both Interhelios and Obguago Dynasty to head up their GuardCorps teams hoping to expand operations against their smaller competitors. Instead, she assembled a small but effective mercenary band to help protect the scattered prospectors and other independents from the expansive intentions of the Prefecture candidates.
With the Saber Ridge Incident acting as a catalyst, many grateful or inspired Astrapelago inhabitants have rallied to her call for a blockade. Their aim is to “protect” Periphery, based on her assertions that Interhelios has taken control of the slipway, or somehow hidden it for their exclusive use.
