Interhelios
Interhelios is the third-largest Combined Prefecture in the Humanverse. It has almost total control of Last Dawn heliosphere, a multi-arcology and planetary alliance in Juno, and is rapidly increasing holdings and influence in Astrapelago. Until the Saber Ridge incident it also had a minimal presence in Periphery.
Yiqi Qianjin Commandery was founded in 348 on the world of Jun-3 in Last Dawn, and was one of the principal participants in the first “Barren War” nearly fifty years later. After the formation of Unitas Consortium the Commandery realigned and became one of the first Affiliated Prefectures. Increasing holdings in several neighboring heliospheres over the next two hundred years, the Prefecture renamed itself Interhelios, with the stated ambition of having economic and political presence in as many heliospheres as possible. At its height there were agents of Interhelios active in 32 heliospheres.
Interhelios’s resources were hard-pressed to maintain that presence and the last few centuries have seen leadership of the Prefecture pivot from what was colloquially called the “fingers-in-all-the-pies” strategy to one of focus and consolidation of Last Dawn. When the slipway to Juno was discovered Interhelios was well-placed to exploit this connection, although it has failed to achieve the kind of domination it achieved in Last Dawn. Seeking to shore up their power in Juno, Interhelios has recently diverted more effort to the navigational hub of Astrapelago, entering into a political and legal conflict with Obguago Dynasty to be recognised as sole Prefecture for Unitas in the heliosphere.
As a Combined Prefecture, Interhelios is formed of several geographically and legally distinct bodies: Interhelios (Central), Interhelios (Last Dawn), Interhelios (Juno), and Interhelios (Astrapelago). Each of these retains its own status as Prefecture or Affiliated Organization, with access to Unitas resources as appropriate. Each maintains an independently contracted force of GuardCorps, while Interhelios (Central) also has additional GuardCorps operational contracts direct with Unitas.
