Ron Cho
Lieutenant Ron Cho, a career pilot from a four-generation GuardCorps family, turned his back on all of it out of disillusionment. Proximity to the upper echelons of the Faris GuardCorps command structure brought him into contact with what he believed was behavior and ideology running counter to the ethos and values of the GuardCorps he was raised in. Out of love for that GuardCorps, he turned against what he believed it had become: a corrupt, punitive, and self-serving organization led astray by bad actors and exceptionalism.
Armed with a chapter-and-verse familiarity of GuardCorps mindset, protocol, and procedures, and supported by a small group of ex-GuardCorps specialists who feel the same way, Ron Cho and his Honchos are widely regarded by the Faris downtrodden as miracle-workers and guardian angels, helping when no one else can and bringing salvation from oppression when hope seems impossible. This belief in Ron Cho has only been solidified by being the only person to singlehandedly escape a Faris bodylock facility.
Ron Cho and his Honchos are the subject of songs, short stories, and comic books circulated amongst the shantytowns, relocation facilities, and labor enclaves of Faris. Cho’s former commanding officer, Captain Shaffan Marquez, is often framed as Cho’s nemesis in these stories, and for good reason. Her fixation on Cho, and determination to bring an end to the insurgency and neutralize him as a rallying figure for other reactionaries, came close to ruining her reputation and career.
The Honchos operate from a slipship that predominately roams the Faris heliosphere, never staying in one place for long. Their objective is to expose the corruption of the Faris GuardCorps to central command in a way that cannot be denied. By doing this, Cho hopes to improve the lot of the society GuardCorps is tasked with protecting, and to once again make it worthy of what he sees as a long and honorable history.
