Tatchidaun
Tatchidaun is the capital of Saienten, a planet in the Pinnacle heliosphere. The city is a major industrial center and notable for its constantly shifting architecture and city layout, which relies on grav stanchions and magnetic rails to move buildings horizontally or vertically.
Tatchidaun follows an anarcho-capitalist approach to governance and economics. The city is home to a large number of unregulated banking and investment firms, as well as pharmaceutical and genetics companies. One of Tatchidaun’s spokespeople, Tomoto Seragal, claims that the city’s lack of regulation and taxation makes the city a haven for innovation, citing the development of synthetic crops, potent medications and novel gene therapy techniques, and extremely profitable hedge funds.
The city’s shifting buildings serve a number of purposes: First, corporations can relocate their premises closer to the living spaces reserved for their workers, which are constantly shifting due to fluctuations in real estate prices driven by micro-bubbles and crashes in the market. Second, the constantly changing physical locations of corporate premises provide those corporations with a layer of protection against lawsuits or court orders from other interstellar corporations or governments, since most legal suits assume that corporate headquarters possess a static, physical address.
