Type 7 Clamp Charge
The Type 7 is a cylindrical, infantry-portable explosive device that uses three folding, magnametic adhesive “flaps” on its base to attach to the surface of a building or zeo. Once attached, the device can be armed manually or detonated at range. The Type 7 typically uses a powerful shaped charge that circumvents most reactive armor and can penetrate deep into the sublayers of a zeo. Type 7 Charges have been known to shear off the limbs of even Battle-Class zeoforms.
Though most Type 7 Charges use a high explosive payload, specialized subtypes can use a miniature EMP generator, or even a volatile incendiary, the latter of which coats targets in a flammable substance and burns at extremely high temperatures. The magnametic flaps can attach to a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, as well as wet or slippery surfaces.
Approaching an operational zeo on foot to attach the charge is generally regarded as suicidal, so the usual procedure to employ the Type 7 involves temporarily disabling the target zeo, either with combined arms fire or another zeo, then sending a small squad to attach the charge before retreating. Alternatively, Type 7s have been dropped on zeos from above in urban combat and even employed as mines, though these methods are far less reliable.
