Grav-Maga
Grav-maga is a hand-to-hand combat system practiced in artificially created high-gravity environments. The high-gravity conditions force practitioners to compensate for greater movement resistance, which mirrors the increased inertia caused by the heavy armor and limbs found in zeoforms. It is the product of a GuardCorps grant to develop a modern, flexible, and efficient melee combat style.
Grav-maga focuses primarily on the use of blade weapons, such as knives and swords, but incorporates the combatant’s whole body in its system by encouraging aggressive forward movement, slamming the opponent to knock them off-balance, and weaving punches and kicks into blade attacks. Grav-maga’s open-hand styles emphasize long-range punches, followed by tackles, grappling, and disabling opponents by ripping off arms, weapons, and defensive systems.
Despite being primarily aimed at zeo pilots, grav-maga’s principles and training methods are also useful for infantry, who benefit from increased muscle density and the grav-maga’s aggressive style. Among these troops, grav-maga training centers on quickly closing the distance between the user and opponent, disarming or neutralizing the enemy’s weapons, then employing the vibro-blade to overwhelm the enemy before striking at the face, chest, and arms.
