Commander Dergali

Etran Dergali is a tactician, orator, and GuardCorps-certified infantry officer known for training and leading small units to a number of unlikely victories, including the Battle of Red Moon, the Yura Emergency, and the bloody skirmish at Harvester-6. In each case, Dergali (often referred to as “Commander” despite his official military rank of Captain within Novageon’s Scarhawks GuardCorps formation) was able to rally and coordinate an outmatched or heavily depleted force of allies and decisively defeat the enemy. Dergali is famous for his ability to extemporize, his theatricality, and his shrewd understanding of small-unit tactics.

In the Battle of Red Moon, Dergali was tasked with defending a moon base responsible for maintaining the satellite network relaying communications between GuardCorps forces deployed to the neighboring planet Neras. When an elite direct action cell of Pact zeos and marines assaulted the installation and jammed his unit’s comms channels, Dergali used the facility’s intercom system to deliver an improvised speech to his skeleton crew of troopers, now titled “Day Follows Night.”

The ferocity and initiative demonstrated by the outnumbered GuardCorps troops (directed by Dergali over the intercom system) forced the direct action cell to retreat in disarray, arguably leading to the ensuing GuardCorps victory on Neras.

Dergali is known to lead troops from the front, rather than a back-line command bunker, and often pilots a rank-and-file Stormer in order to move freely along the battlefront. No matter what guise he uses, he is rarely seen without his cherry-red beret and black ocu-set.
