The Lawless Isles
Along the western coast of the Bay of Gulls lies an archipelago of over a hundred bleak and rocky isles. The waters here are incredibly dangerous to all but the most experienced of sailors, and thus the place has become a haven for pirates, smugglers and other unsavory sorts who plunder the seas all along the coast from Northport to the southern kingdoms of Tillain. When the High Kingdom can be bothered to send a force to deal with the pirates, they simply move on to another island and continue their plundering from there. Recent conflict with Hylanda raiders has caused some trouble for them, leading to the emergence of a self-styled 'Pirate King' Boraam 'Blackleg' Ulaani, a Daskari pirate who has risen to power through violence, treachery and sheer tenacity.
