The Gaw

The Gaw refers to the thin barrier of the fabric of reality at the top of the world, every place across the north focusing to a single point - the Void is what lies beyond.
This convergence to a single point with other realities beyond exists in the south of the world as well, but not only is most of the far north landlocked while there is no dry land in the far south, the disaster that tore the fabric only ever occured in the north.
The area near the northern Gaw is cold, mountainous and full of shifting mists. The southern Gaw, from dry land is usually obscured by the glow of the gold spark in the heat over the water, but if one was to sail toward it, it would fade to twilight.
In these areas near the Gaw reality gets a bit...bendy. Folks, whole ships, things sometimes just disappear. But other things sometimes APPEAR, too, frequently in the north.
