Merkessi (Mer-kes-ee)
The waters between Somaj and the Midlands have been sailed by the races of Errath since the earliest histories of the March. The Merkessi has been the home for the merchant ships of Korkusz, Navi, Hellenia, Somaj, and many others for millenia, and many simply refer to it as "The Channel" for that reason. It has seen civilizations come and go, and been the sight of the largest naval battles from the Helvenic Republic and the Dragon War, earning the Merkessi it's other nickname: the Blood Sea. As dramatic as those events were, however, the heart of the Merkessi Sea is trade, and it is here that ships from every continent in the March can be found, the center of trade leading to all other oceans.
