Mayar Ocean
Lying between the Midlands, Somaj, and Xianshou, and almost completely surrounding Rahasaya, the Mayar Ocean hosts the trade routes that keep those lands connected. The waters have been sailed for over two thousand years, yet somehow always seem to hold something new and undiscovered within them. An array of strange creatures can be found here, including some of the more legendary sea creatures, and tropical islands provide exotic food and life. Strange magics can be found in these waters, and it is known that no maps can be completely relied on. Navigators can't always keep to the stars, and the navigators who guide the ships learn to read odd signs in the waters and mists. The best navigators can cut travel times to unbelievable degrees, while some ships disappear completely. Sometimes ships stumble across entire new islands, and some merchants sometimes send ships to simply see what they can find and bring back. A few navigators have even boasted that, with the right signs from the sea, they could sail to any port in the March in a weeks time.
The islands of the Mayar are home to some native groups of humans, gnomes, and vanara, and one atoll is home to a clan of Doreen who have opened it up as a trade waystation. Two nations of mer exist within the waters, as well as a nation of the variant who call themselves tritons. Still most of the ocean lies unclaimed and impossible to explore.
