Season 7, Episode 10: "The Last Stop" Report

General Summary

There was a pause in the battlefield — a moment between barrages of gunfire, of sweet stillness — before both sides of the conflict smashed together, the Dream Team and their allies vs. Alexander Marcus and his otherworldly cronies. Powers older than the stones they stood upon met light with shadow, fire with ice, and order with entropy. Alternate realities clashed together, time was bent near to breaking, and nightmares walked straight out of the dream and into the real.   As the battle at the peak of the Howling Mountain went wild, enemies of Jestyr were flung down among mortals, begrudgingly offering their aid. Nassistra fell, leaving Marcus vulnerable, and both the Black Owl and Catherine found themselves locked into place. Ferro and Tera were banished back to the First World, and Ragarot received a terrible wound in his side.   But in the end, even the combined might of Valentina Terris and Carrot could not hold the Scion of Crows at bay, and they were hurled to the lower tier with the Jester on their heels. Invoking the True Name of Carnival, he emboldened his remaining allies, and released an aura of terror out across the stars.   Twelve Jesters stepped from his shadow, making thirteen, each holding a weapon forged in legend and forgotten by time. The Haze cried somber warning, invoking the prophecy of The Owls of Dylath-Leen, as Carrot found himself pierced by a sword of pure daylight, a rapier made of blood, and a dagger made of bone. The true Jester then invoked the sigil of Nyarlathotep, pounding on his Heart of Armageddon, and the other nine copies erupted from three shadows.   Ragarot screamed as a dagger made of Dragonglass pierced his heart, followed by an arrow made of Wither, and a stone that held a Storm. The Black Owl howled in confusion as three distinct, obsidian needles punched into his back. Unseen but heard, a net of sand wrapped around the ever-watching Dreamer, his final lament a flutter, as a spear roiling with Dragon breath crystallized the sand entirely, and shattered it.   Stunned by the beating Heart and the loss of their patron, the Dream Team attempted to intervene after the Jester's godly onslaught, but none were capable of bridging the gap. The Owls of Dylath-Leen crumbled into dust, joined by their elder brother, and Jestyr turned his gaze on one, final victim.   The Eclipse Malkin twisted into Alexander Marcus' back, and Nicholas Carter joined his Mirror in their destruction, creating a rift in space-time great enough to puncture through the Mirror and into the Other Side. The Horsemen of Abaddon screeched with glee as they became free to roam the Material Plane in the flesh, no longer bound by the old customs, their sights set on End Day.   Jester looked to the gap, pulling through to Carnival. The Dream Team watched him go, too wary to follow, but emboldened by Nicholas Carter's final words.   "Get the keys."   End of Season 7.

Notes

I had about three days to prep this fight, which alone needed an episode document with 1,650 words and three pages of content. It is probably the most prepared I've been prepared for a combat since our Mythic-tier Pathfinder 1E days, which is a testament to the difference in complexity between that system and Starfinder.   It's really hard to summarize a combat in a thematic way, but I have to shout out Flay's player for her masterful coverage of Nassistra, standing tall even in the face of a tremendous amount of damage, and securing a very early win for the team. This was also the debut of Isra's change from the Infinite Worlds ability tree to the Infinity Lash, adding a bit of melee flavor to her previously range-heavy kit, which nullified at least two of Catherine's unique powers.   If you're reading the loot changes, and are shocked that I would dare attack a little Night boy, the answer is yes and gladly. Because... Of course. I remembered that Tesin had the Chronal Zygote! And that she would use it to save him... All according to plan.   Due to a myriad of personal reasons (house, bricks, soccer — you either get it or you don't), we had to take a 1-month hiatus between games. AKA perfect for a 6-month time skip!
