Jupiter

The Gas Giant's Majesty

Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, is a gaseous behemoth of breathtaking proportions. Its massive atmosphere, composed mostly of hydrogen and helium, swirls with vibrant hues of turquoise, silver, and crimson, a spectacle that has captivated human imagination for centuries. Jupiter's formidable magnetic field and intense radiation belts make it inhospitable to human habitation, but its moons offer a haven for colonization. The four Galilean Moons – Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto – are terraformed and teeming with life, while smaller moons like Amalthea and Himalia rely on gravity plating and sealed habitats. Jupiter's unique environment has fostered a distinct culture, shaped by the daring scoop pilots who harvest Red Mercury from its upper atmosphere.

Jovian Spirit: Courage and Camaraderie

Jovian culture is defined by the fearless, entrepreneurial spirit of its people. Descendants of the original scoop pilots, Jovians embody a unique blend of competitiveness and camaraderie. Theirs is a society where risk-takers and innovators thrive, where loyalty and honor are paramount. Jovians celebrate life with vibrant festivals, merging Asian and spacefaring traditions. Their cuisine, centered around algae-and-bug farms on Callisto, is a flavorful reflection of their resourcefulness. With the Tontine, a massive, collective investment fund, Jovians demonstrate their commitment to shared prosperity. This independent, optimistic nation has produced legendary figures like Somun Sang-Hoon, the current Technocrat, whose flamboyant persona belies his exceptional piloting skills and business acumen.

A Hub of Commerce and Exploration

As the sole source of Red Mercury, Jupiter has become a critical hub in Human Space. The planet's moons bustle with activity, as cargo haulers, explorers, and entrepreneurs converge to trade, innovate, and seek fortune. Jovian society is inherently cosmopolitan, attracting individuals from diverse backgrounds. The Technocrat's administration ensures a delicate balance between commerce, security, and scientific research. With its unique blend of adventure, innovation, and community, Jupiter has become a beacon for humanity's expansion into the stars. As the Red Mercury flows, Jupiter's influence grows, shaping the course of interstellar commerce, exploration, and civilization. Amidst this dynamic landscape, the Jovian people remain steadfast, forging a brighter future among the stars.

Geography

Jupiter is an uninhabitable gas giant with upwards of 100 moons. Four of these moons have been fully terraformed, with orbital pressors maintaining an Earthlike surface gravity. These are the "Galilean Moons;" Callisto, Ganymede, Europa, and Io, four 'Inner Moons;' Metis, Adrastea, Amalthea, and Thebe that are populated by homesteaders and basically nobody else, then the Carme, Ananke, and Pasiphae groups which are small, irregular moons that feature 'bunker colonies,' self sufficient small town hives burrowed into the rock. More than sixty other objects of various sizes orbit Jupiter, most of these are uninhabited.
