Capitol of Venus

The Capitol of Venus is its oldest and largest city. It's famous for its pristine white buildings, its gold trim and its airtight dome. It holds the seat of the Technocrat of Venus as well as the headquarters of Starlight Pharmaceuticals. It's a major tourist destination, and bills itself as something of a City of Love.

Bubble By Tradition

Venus' Terraforming has long made conditions livable, aside from the occasional acid rain, which is diluted enough to only cause mild irritation. The bubble dome is more a matter of tradition and civic pride; the aesthetics of the white-towered city are much easier to maintain without tarnishing if the climate has strict controls. Generations of Venusians have grown up in bubble cities, and they aren't inclined to change that.    It also acts as a handy stratisfier, with the city dwellers able to grow up a little healthier with less acid scarring and chronic pain.

Pharmaceutical Center

Nearly everyone in the city either works for Starlight Pharmaceuticals or for the government. The surrounding farmland is filled with proprietary flora designed to yield just the right chemicals to be processed into medicines, drugs, and chems.

Stacked Undercities

They call Aphrodite Prime the original city of Venus, and it technically is. However, it has not been continuously inhabited in all that time. The Gobi Horror hit all of the first colonists of Venus. Unlike the larger, more open air population of Mars, the first colonists were still bottled up. Most of the bubble cities were entirely wiped out, or at least any mutants were small enough in number that they failed to procreate. In Aphrodite Prime, they broke out and fled into the mines and caverns of the surrounding continent, and some into the lowest undercity infrastructure. The second colonists rebuilt the domes and repopulated, discovering the 'natives' and attempting to rehabilitate them.   These efforts mostly failed, but a few hundred thousand Waxies were Uplifted and were able to join human society with therapies and surgeries, resulting in Venutian-Psychic Dementia becoming endemic to the population. Meanwhile, smaller settlements suffered attacks by the Waxies and responded with violence. In the fall of the Solar Commonwealth, the rebels supplied the Waxies with plasma weapons from an alien cache found on a planetoid in the Oort Cloud. The rampaging Waxies overran the cities in numbers that were not even conceived possible, and it was decades before the Venusian refugees were able to return with a brutal invasion. The domed cities had to be rebuilt again, leaving the layers of previous cities below. Aphrodite Prime's underworld is quite a literal thing; layers of cityscape stretch beneath the city, filled with criminals, junkies, vagrants, Waxies, and Gobi Worms.
