The Morning Starlight
Starlight Pharmaceuticals began after the
Cozine Disaster, taking advantage of chemicals trapped in
Venus's soil after the
Terraforming was complete. It is the only Gigacorp based on the planet, and therefore controls a huge market share of the planet. It's turned the planet into something of a rival and mirror image of
Mars with their
Martian Arms corporation. Most of
Venus works for SP, and those who don't work for them work for a corporation or in a job that works with them.
Mind Altering Drugs and Machines
Starlight Pharmaceuticals makes a variety of
Social Chems, recreational drugs, attitude adjusters, antipsychotics, and 'dullers.' These drugs have varying levels of legality in the rest of
Human Space, but 'chemical self-management' is a foundational principle of
Venusian society. SP also makes the
Mental-Emotional Restraint Control Regulator.
Mind Altering Weapons
Starlight Pharmaceuticals also manufactures two varieties of weapons, both LTL. One line is the
Neurostim line of
Neural Weaponry. These weapons end a fight by overriding the brain-energy map with that of someone in an intense paroxysm of bliss. Notably, some people find Neurostim weapons as essential home defense tools, as they are obviously dual-use. The other weapon made by SP is the infamous
Nerve Staple, a weapon of punishment used in the punishment of the
Condemned and a quick-and-dirty restraint tool for kinetic situations.
