Well of Souls

"The Well of Souls? It's not exactly a tourist hotspot. Honestly, I'd rather people didn't get any bright ideas about exploring it. The Judgements of Maneya are no joke. I've seen what happens to those who try to sneak down there. It's... unpleasant. Let's just say I'm happy with the current arrangement: we throw our dead's glyphs in, and Maneya keeps the rest to herself."   ~Ack, Technocrat of Pluto

Funeral Rites and Graverobbers

The Well of Souls plays a sacred role in Plutonian funeral rites. Glyph-stones, bearing the records of the deceased, are cast into its depths, ensuring the dead's experiences are preserved within Maneya's realm. However, this reverence hasn't deterred graverobbers seeking to exploit the Well's secrets. These illicit treasure hunters risk everything to retrieve glyph-stones, which can reveal valuable information to those who can decipher them. Despite the dangers, some are drawn to the promise of uncovering hidden truths or selling valuable relics on the black market.

Home of Maneya

The Well of Souls is believed to be Maneya's domain, a mystical nexus where She Who Counts the Dead resides. Ancient surveys hint at unfathomable depths and unseen energies lurking within. The Well's reputation as a threshold to the unknown has forged a deep-seated fear among Plutonians. They attribute the unexplained illnesses and epidemics that afflict would-be explorers to Maneya's Judgements, divine retribution for trespassing on sacred ground. This collective dread has effectively sealed the Well, transforming it into a forbidden zone.

Forbidden Halls

The Well of Souls' inaccessibility has spawned darker legends. Some whisper of labyrinthine tunnels and chambers beneath the pit, containing secrets and relics from civilizations past. Others speak of unholy artifacts hidden within the Well's depths, waiting to be discovered by the brave – or foolhardy. The Plutonian government has taken a firm stance against exploration, posting stern warnings and enforcing strict penalties for would-be trespassers. Ack, the Technocrat, echoes this sentiment, hoping to dissuade adventurers from tempting Maneya's wrath. The Well of Souls remains a mysterious, perilous enigma, shrouded in myth and protected by fear.
