Sol System

"The Sol System is the cradle of humanity, our birthplace and our strength. It's a monument to our resilience, our adaptability, and our unwavering drive to explore and thrive. From the scars of the First Terran Empire to the triumphs and tragedy of the Reformed Solar Commonwealth, our system's history is a complex tapestry. As Speaker, I'm honored to weave the next thread in this narrative, ensuring the Sol System remains the beacon of humanity's potential."   ~Gabriel Tremblay, Speaker for Mankind

Geography of the Sol System

The Sol System comprises eight planets, five dwarf planets, and numerous moons, asteroids, and other celestial bodies. Terraforming and colonization efforts have transformed the system into a vibrant, interconnected web of human settlements. Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter's moons, Saturn's rings, Uranus's moon Miranda, and Neptune's moon Triton are all home to thriving populations. Pluto, once a distant outlier, is now an integral part of the system, tied to the Solar Commonwealth. Numerous space stations, including the New Reticuli Refugee Station - Sol, float either in their own orbits around the sun or around one of Sol's planets.

Culture and Significance

The Sol System is the cultural, economic, and political heart of Human Space. It's the hub of interstellar trade, innovation, and progress. Humanity's greatest achievements – from the earliest spaceflights to the latest technological breakthroughs – have their roots in the Sol System. The system's diverse population, shaped by centuries of migration, forced mutation, and cultural exchange, has given rise to a rich tapestry of traditions, art, and ideas. As the birthplace of humanity, the Sol System holds immense sentimental value, symbolizing the resilience and determination of the human spirit.

A Complex History

The Sol System's history is marked by periods of turmoil and transformation. From the First Space Rush to the Robot Revolution, the system has weathered crises and upheavals. The Great Timocracy of Mankind, the Solar Commonwealth, and the Reformed Solar Commonwealth have each left their mark on the system's politics and society. Key events, such as the Gobivirus Mutagenicus bioweapon's deployment, the Lucifuge plague, and the Rigelian Incursions, have shaped the system's trajectory. The Cozine Disaster, which brought an end to the Reformed Solar Commonwealth, serves as a poignant reminder of the system's ongoing struggles and the importance of unity in the face of adversity.

Legacy and Rebirth

Today, the Sol System stands as a testament to humanity's capacity for rebirth and renewal. Under the leadership of Speaker Gabriel Tremblay, the system continues to evolve, addressing the challenges of its complex past while embracing the promise of its future. As humanity expands into the cosmos, the Sol System remains an enduring symbol of its potential, a beacon guiding the way toward a brighter, more united tomorrow.
