Swan Bay
Found in the northwestern corner of the Eldorian Sea and protected by a trio of islands at its mouth, rocky shoals and hidden sandbars litter its shallow waters. Warmer than the surrounding sea, it is homes schools of small fish darting about and feeding on the thick sea grass that the abundant sunlight and silt deposited the Pender's River help grow. Such an abundance of fish and murky waters make a perfect habit for sleek sharks that, while not as large as those found the Dragon's Teeth or Sea of Storms, often stretch as far tail to tip as a man is tall. These underwater feeding machines happily eat anything that enters the water, swarming the wrecks of those ships that cannot navigate the shoals and dining on drowning on sailors before they can drown.
The bay gets its name, however, from its mystical guardian. Said to be a daughter of Jendredi, the Swan Maiden appears as a beautiful woman, dressed only in a cloak of feathers whiter than fresh fallen snow. For those who pay her tribute - invariably a sacrifice of some sort, she is said to guide their ships safely to harbor. Those that fail to make an offering risk her terrible wrath. One survivor swears that she rose on a geyser of water hundreds of feet in the air, cloak billowing, eyes redder than the bloodiest dawn, before commanding the sea to collapse in upon itself, snapping his galleon like a twig beneath the weight of waves. That same survivor slipped on a Pole Town dock a few days later, straight into the jaws of crocodile that had, inexplicitly, wandered up the coast and his story was never verified.
