Island of Eldoria
Home to the mightiest Empire on Tarien and its greatest city, its residents claim it to be the center of the world. Indeed, it is generally centered on the continent, located in the Eldorian Sea. With generally pleasant weather, excellent harbors, and ample fresh water it is unsurprising that the island spawned such a great civilization, even if they perhaps over-reached and in recent centuries have had to pull back to their island home.
Unlike other parts of the continent, even those heavily populated like the Rheuthen Basin, there is little wilderness left on the island. While the population certainly becomes less dense as you travel eastward, particularly past Phelandria, there are few unpopulated areas and very little that is not connected by an Imperial Road. Even in the central highlands around Krellia or the forested eastern half, one is never too far from a farm, small hamlet, or roadside inn.
With so many people, and so much development, many visitors find the island dirty and cramped. Some claim that the small towns of the interior still have a city feel, with a dozen or so buildings all crammed together to maximize crop land and housing together. The proximity of people also brings a seedier side - more crime probably occurs on the Island than in the rest of the Inner Seas combined. While its true that Imperial Legionnaires keep its road safe from bandits, pickpockets and cutpurses can be found anywhere people gather, from the meanest tavern room to the busiest market. Travelers are advised to keep a sharp eye open and one hand on their purse.
