Orie-Claw Treaty

After the Magic Implosion in 1144 CD, tensions rose between the magic barren Orie Country and the magic abundant Claw Continent. The Ories began to believe the Magic Implosion and their suffering were caused by mages from the Claw Continent. The Claw Continent, on the other hand, did not know about the lack of mages in Orie Country and believed the the Ories were responsible for their own implosions.   While the trade continued, it decreased in frequency and quantity. By 1147 CD, the pressure overflowed and the war began. For the next four years, battle after battle ensued. Most of these attacks took place on the Cliffpass, a mile wide strip of land between the two continents with a 100 ft drop on either side.   The nations in the Claw Continent came together to pen a treaty outlining trade agreements and lack thereof, continent boundaries, and communication agreements.
  1. The Claw nations would continue to trade internally; however, as neither Orie Country nor the Claw Continent value one another's resources, there would no longer be any trade on that scale.
  2. The Cliffpass is neutral territory and as such cannot be claimed by any single entity.
  3. Communication is free and should not be hindered, as long as the messenger carries with them the Orie-Claw seal.

And so it has been for 100 years, according to the Claw Continent.   Unfortunately, from the perspective of Orie Country, the treaty lasted for four tense years. In 1155 CD, Bemere Tremaer, the Orie's ruler, declared a War on Magic when magical forces attacked Orie Country off the coast of Shaca.   Show Spoiler
Craei Grecofoxas encouraged Tremaer to view these attacks as manipulation from the Claw Continent. Soon, a position as the ruler's sole advisor was created, The Grecodar. This position is still considered a high rank in Orie Country today and continues to inform the presiding ruler of all magical incidences.
