Creation of the World

From between the stars came the Gods, and with them order was brought to the churning chaos between the stars. The core of this world holds its oldest and deepest secrets -- from there stemmed all the known races of Sturth.

First were the Primordials: one born of each element -- fire, water, earth, air. Though some of these ancient beings remain today, they are rare indeed, and as unlearned about their own origins as any other race.

Races of Fire

From the flame-wreathed primordial trailblazers, the mighty fire giants came into being as well as the smaller race of Tieflings. A cross between the trailblazers and the mighty dragons produced the race now known as the dragonborn. After some time, the smaller Kobolds came to be, though their origins are contested.

Races of Earth

From the earthen primordial terrafirms stemmed the mighty stone giants and the lazy hill giants as well as much of lesser giantkin. But there were also the smaller folk: Firbolg and Dwarf subraces. The nature-loving firbolg took hold on the surface, and their dwarven brethren delved deep beneath the ground. From the deep-mining dwarves stemmed a race of taller, more artistically inclined creatures -- Elf kind. Other smaller dwarven folk worked their way to the surface but maintained their diminutive size -- Gnomes and from them, Halflings. From the surface-loving firbolg stemmed a gentle spiritually-inclined race of beastial humanoids -- the Kemono. One type of kemono over time has become so distinct it is considered its own species -- the feline Tabaxi.

Races of Air

From the sky-dwelling primordial tailwinds stemmed the cloud giants in their high mansions. The smaller folk then split off -- the Featherfolk -- who remained in the sky, and their grounded cousins -- the stumpy repetitious Bortu.

Races of Water

From the primordial torrents beneath the waves stemmed the races of the seas, who made their way inland over generations. First were the enigmatic storm giants. Not long after it is said the Tritons came into being. From another branch of these primordials stemmed the Mak races -- the waterborn omak and the landed dromak. Also from the water primordials stem the mysterious Tortles and the wild Lizardfolk. From the deep lakes and rivers of the world came the crustacean-like Shorok.

Races Unknown

The race of Humans is a great mystery. For as long as any histories tell, humans have lived on Sturth, though their exact origins are not spoken of in the texts of any modern religion. However, their undeniable zest for life enticed the elves long ago, leading to a unique Half-Elf race.

Besides this, there are the created races, those that stemmed from The Amalgam: Sciosynth (known colloquially as "synths"). Though natural in body, these constructs' minds originate elsewhere. Through pure sciosynths crossing with humans, the Kalashtar came into being. Strangely, the diminutive Goblins are also considered constructed, since their origins are believed to be entirely magical. However, goblins do not seem interested in finding the truth one way or another.
