Triton

Tritons of Sturth rule their vast oceanic kingdoms, controlling huge swathes of water beneath the waves. By and large, they have little contact with surface folk, so a triton adventurer is usually a surprise. Compared to tritons of other D&D worlds, Sturthan tritons are unique in several regards:
  • Unlike nearly all other races, tritons did not need to flee far when the cataclysm came. They simply retreated farther into the ocean, rebuilding their kingdoms far from the shores of Nestfaolo.
  • Triton society values great acts of self sacrifice over all else, awarding great honor to those who die in defense of their people. To this end, many triton strive to one day do battle with a worthy foe, one whose defeat will bring them eternal honor even at the cost of their own life.
  • In the last decade or so, the deep kingdoms of the triton have been assaulted by huge, multilimbed monstrosities that creep from the crevices of the world. This constant pressure has forced a large migration of triton back to their ancient homeland just off the shores of Nestfaolo. Such a migration has made tritons slightly more common of a sight in Respite.

Motivations

Tritons are motivated most of all by the idea of self sacrifice. From a young age, triton society instills the glory of overcoming overwhelming odds into all, an idea that reverberates through all of triton life. As such, most tritons seek the surface to hunt down a worthy foe, though there are some simply seeking an escape from such constantly pressure.

Playing a Triton

Tritons are functionally identical to those found in D&D Beyond.   Tritons have no subraces.
