Dwarf

Dwarves in Sturth are similar to those in other D&D worlds. They hold to tradition, love the deep places of the world, and build a strong sense of community. However, there are a few key differences:
  • Dwarves in Sturth are one of the oldest races, and their oral traditions stretch back well before the Exodus, to a time when the great dwarven halls of old were filled with the treasures of generations. Now returned to their homeland, the dwarves seek to find these halls once more.
  • Above all else, dwarves seek to establish traditions. Their love of constancy extends to every part of a dwarf's life, from their opinions of others to armor passed down for generations.
  • Bereft of their mountains, dwarves had to endure for millennia on the ocean, a fate they accepted only out of necessity. Nonetheless, some dwarves adapted, earning the name sea dwarves.

Motivations

All dwarves share a love of precious metals and gems, stemming from their close connection to the earth. Some dwarves have never given up hope and believe the hallowed halls of their ancestors await them somewhere to the west. Still others choose to lead simpler lives, opening businesses and building something new. Either way, a dwarf is always steadfast and once set on a path, rarely strays.

Playing a Dwarf

Dwarves in Sturth may differ in name, but are functionally identical to those in a typical campaign. Use the dwarf stats in D&D Beyond.   Mountain dwarves are unchanged. For sea dwarves, use the hill dwarf subrace.
