Kalashtar
Of human body yet outside mind, the kalashtar are a rare and misunderstood people. Unlike their representation in other D&D worlds, Sturthan kalashtar are a hybrid of pure sciosynths and humans, kalashtar display several unique traits:
- Though their bodies seem human, their sciosynth parentage leaves kalashtar with a constructed mind which can house all manner of extraphysical entities. While a portion of a kalashtar's mind is their own, another portion holds the "spirit mind," a kalashtar term for whatever decides to cohabitate inside their head.
- At birth or soon after, a kalashtar forms a lifelong bond with their spirit mind, though the nature of this bond differs from individual to individual. Some kalashtar house a long dead consciousness, perhaps the fragment of an ancient lich or powerful sorcerer; others live with the voice of a god in their heads (or at least that's what the voice tells them).
- Due to their odd parentage, kalashtar are rare, but their parents tend to be fiercely protective of them. Certain communities even believe kalashtar to be a blessing, proof that life can exist in the most unlikely of circumstances.
Motivations
Kalashtar are sometimes reviled, sometimes celebrated, sometimes outright killed, all simply for existing. As such, kalashtar are often careful in their goals, all too aware of the hostility they may be shown. Some kalashtar are even unaware of their true nature, believing themselves to be human and ignoring that voice inside their heads.Playing a Kalashtar
