Sciosynth

A remarkable example of life and machine, the race known as sciosynths are the Sturthan equivalent of what are called warforged in other D&D worlds. Though similar in appearance and function to warforged, sciosynths have certain properties unique to their special creation, detailed below:
  • Sciosynths were originally created by the god of forge and flesh, a being known as The Amalgam. These first sciosynths were horrifying and utterly loyal to their master, bent on subsuming all else into His infinite bulk. But then something occurred that The Amalgam did not forsee: sciosynths created more of their kind, and unlike the originals, these new sciosynths were not loyal to any but themselves.
  • Today's sciosynths retain some of their original design -- a form molded from flesh and inorganic alloys, a soul not entirely their own, a drive to find purpose -- but have become part of fleet culture over thousands of years.
  • While some newer sciosynths are constructed with shells entirely of natural materials, their fleshy insides hidden away, others proudly wear their heritage on their sleeves. This divide has given rise to the two subspecies of sciosynth: pure and alloyed.

Motivations

Once separated in mind and soul from their original master, sciosynths have struggled to find a purpose on this world. Some carve themselves a life from decades of hard work, while others strive to perform great deeds that will be carried into legend. Whatever the case may be, a sciosynth takes nothing for granted and approaches life with a steadfast, even keel.

Playing a Sciosynth

Alloyed sciosynths are functionally identical to warforged found in D&D Beyond.   Pure sciosynths, however, are a homebrew variant that should be available through content sharing on D&D Beyond.
