Araki Leaves

This little unasuming plant grows only in the Western Plains, which is a tough region to survive in for anything be it people, cattle or plants. The only things that seem to thrive there fully are various different types of grass. And among them, from time to time, this little bushy plants hides. It looks similar to a blueberry bush, it doesn't grow higher than ankle-length, but it's leaves are darker and take on brown hues sometimes. It has tiny white flowers and it blooms in the autumn months. Its roots are very shallow so if you'd try to get rid of the grass around it to make the Araki bushes more accessible you are risking that it will be destroyed by the strong winds in the area.   The most interesting part of this plant are actually the leaves. One way to reliably know that you definitely stumbled upon Araki plants is, if your cattle accidentaly eats it and starts becoming inreasingly lazy or even falls asleep. The plant has anesthetic properties and its dried up leaves can be used in many medicines and also as a sleeping concoction.   The best time to gather the plants is towards the sunset as the leaves have a thin layer of wax covering them that glistens in sunlight and later in the day cannot be mixed up with dew.   It is one of the important trade resources that many of the nomadic tribe uses. Even though sometimes their shamanistic style of healing and medicine tends to be dismissed by some scholars, their experiences can't be denied and there is much to be learnt about flora in the kingdom and it is kind of an undeniable fact that the people who live a nomadic style of life tend to understand the nature better then academics in the cities.
