Western Plains

While beautiful to look at, the Western Plains are not the nicest and most comfortable place to live. These plains cover the base of the Haiu Mountains and are forever cast in their shadow. While there is plenty of fertile ground spread out through the area of the plains, the weather is so unpredictable, it makes it hard to plan long-term and any kind of careful consideration can be destroyed withing couple of days of different weather than people were expecting. Not only the seasons of the year can be pretty harsh, but the days of rain are quickly succeded by droughts, therefore, anyone who wants to survive in the west, needs to be well versed in the unstable nature of this environment and hopefully also have a cloud-reader within their group, so they can have at least a couple of days or hours heads up on what is coming into the area as far as weather goes.
The other problem is the water supply. There used to be plenty of springs and rivers flowing from the Huai Mountain into the area and also many lakes spread thorough. However, in the past decades and centuries, many of these rivulets and lakes had started to dry up and some even disappeared completely. That's why most of the western plains are covered in fairly dry grasslands and even the desert on the south seems to be spreading and increasing in size in the recent decades.
The only people resilient enough to survive in the Western Plains are the various nomadic tribes that traverse through these vast areas and move with their tents to differents spots every couple of months as to not deplete the natural resources that are still there and to let the nature recover and replenish. Ballance in life and in actions seem to be the core philosophical belief of many of the cultures there as well as the notion of "If you can't get what you need here, there is always somewhere you can go." mostly meaning that raids for food and riches are always an option due to the settlement spread out around the fertile grounds near the east where the kingdom lies.
