Palace Guard

Palace Guard is the personal military force that protects the current king and also the royal family. It consists of an elite group of people trained in martial arts and military strategy and they not only act as a protective service but also as consultants on various affairs that are threatening the national security. They got created due to the fact that the current dynasty was led by a group of rebellious peasants who drove out the governing nomads that ruled over them - the first king being among them. It is only natural that the first group of what could be considered "ministers" back then came from his most trusted comrades and advisors. And it also makes sense that he would send them to protect what was dearest to his heart and important to establish and keep a new dynasty - his wife and their three children at that time.
Members of the palace guard are fiercly loyal to the new regime and getting admitted into this circle, even though it is no longer a part of the government, is seen as one of the highest honours a person can get. Admission is purely based on knowledge and skills of a person, not on their societal status. Anyone can help protect the current king and their heir and through it, secure the fate of the entire country.
A part of this force is a group called the Smaller Palace Guard who sometimes act as an envoy of the king and their voice, carrying with them a special golden seal of approval. There are rumours and conspiracies going on that they are acting more as a spy network than representatives and it is getting more and more probably that the current monarch will decide to disband them to ease the public mind a bit.
