Court Palace

In the centre of each province of the Kingdom stands the Court Palace with its Prince who presides over the right and wrong doings of the people who live there. It is the centre of all power and majority of the commoners cannot sort their injustices elsewhere. The court of the royal family is forbidden to anyone who hasn't been specifically summoned to go there. And many of those who go there, rarely return.
This is not the case of the other Court Palaces. People come and go, even the Princes come and go too with different families rising and falling out of power. The only people who don't really leave are the criminals. Those are either executed on the spot for their transgressions or interred in the deep dark dungeons below. Or, if you are especially lucky (or unlucky, depending on the current prince) you get to spend your life as a slave at the particular court, trying to ballance your crimes with good deeds in the service to the current local power. Despite their lowely status in society and little hope to become a free citizen again, those people tend to be fiercely loyal to their masters.
Part of each such palace is a Court of Justice, that is usually a smaller building situated near the inner courtyard, before the residential buildings of the family of the prince. Every day, from dawn to dusk any citizen can come in there to submit a petition or to vent their grievances of any injustice that has befallen them. At the head of each Court of Justice stands the Chief Inspector who deals with individual cases and gives out the rulings to the people, unless the alleged crime commited is so serious that it needs the personal ruling of the prince themselves.
